Guy Ritchie Calls Marriage To Madonna A Soap Opera

First Published: November 28, 2011 6:40 PM EST Credit: Getty Images LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- Caption Guy Ritchie and Madonna, Sept. 2008Guy Ritchie and Madonna split in 2008 and in a new interview, the Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows director admitted it was a rollercoaster ride. I stepped into a soap opera, and I lived in it for quite a long period of my life, Guy told GQ magazines December 2011 issue. Ill probably be more eloquent on it 10 years from now. Guy and Madonna met in 1998 at a dinner party, held by Stings wife, Trudie Styler, who set them up. The two married two years later in December 2000 at Skibo Castle in Scotland, and the director said he has no regrets about their union. I enjoyed my first marriage. Its definitely not something I regret. The experience was ultimately very positive, he said. I love the kids that came out of it, and I could see no other route to take. But you move on, dont you? The split between the couple resulted in a reported cost for Madonna of between $76 million and $92 million. When asked what he learned from their marriage, Guy mentioned money. When you end up with a lot of the things you set out to chase and find that youve stumbled into all sorts of hollow victories, then you become deeply philosophical. Im quite happy that that experience was accelerated for me. Im glad I made money, in other words, he said. And Im glad I got married. Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows opens on December 16. Funny Girl Wont Bow On Broadway This Season Because Of Budget Shortfall

Theatergoers who were excited about seeing Lauren Ambrose and Bobby Cannavale star in a stage revival of Funny Girl won’t be cheered by this news. The show has been scrapped for this season. It had been scheduled to open in April 2012 after first playing the Center Theater Group/Ahmanson Theatre in Los Angeles. They just couldn’t get the money together and will have to try again next season. I’m told the cast will stay in place. We have made the extremely difficult decision today to postpone our production of Funny Girl,” Bob Boyett said. “Given the current economic climate, many Broadway producing investors have found it impossible to maintain their standard level of financial commitment. Our desire to produce Funny Girl on the scale it deserves required a capitalization of $12 million making it one of the most expensive revivals in Broadway history. I am deeply saddened by this decision, but I, along with the finest group of co-producers I have ever had the pleasure to work with — Sonia Friedman, Jean Doumanian, Stacey Mindich and Tim Levy — determined that this was not the right time to bringFunny Girl to the stage.

The El Segundo, Calif. company said net additions in the U.S. nearly doubled to 327,000 in the third quarter due in part to the NFL Sunday Ticket promotion. ARPU, or average revenue per user, rose to $92.21 due to price increases on programming packages and leased set-top boxes, as well as higher advanced service fees partially offset by more promotional offers to new and existing customers. DirecTV Latin America generated its best quarter ever with 574,000 net additions. Total third quarter net additions soared to 1.14 million "as the strength of DirecTV's brands and unparalleled video experience fueled the largest net subscriber gain in DirecTV's history," said CEO Mike White. The operating margin declined to 23% due to higher programming costs at DirecTV U.S. mostly related to annual program supplier rate increases and the new NFL contract, as well as higher subscriber acquisition costs.
